About Anders Omstedt

Professor, oceanography

Research Interests

Ocean climate and environmental interaction, land and atmosphere influence on coastal seas, understanding observations, process oriented physical and biogeochemical aquatic modelling.

Administration

  • Head of Ocean Climate Group at Department of Earth Sciences
  • Co-chairmen of BACC II
  • Member of Baltic Earth Iterim Science Steering Group

Research Projects

Geosphere Dynamics, especially the Baltic Sea Water, Energy and Mass transport. How does the Baltic Sea function and how will future changes in climate influence the Baltic Sea? To answer these questions we need to develop our understanding of water, energy and material cycles in the Baltic Sea. The coupling between the Baltic Sea and the atmosphere and surrounding land surfaces are also of major interest. The research takes an active part in the BALTEX and the BONUS programs.
