About Alexandra Walsh

As an analytical chemist, my interest lies in development and refinement of a variety of analytical techniques. The method development I currently work with focuses on surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), gas chromatography (GC/GC-MS), and imaging/modelling with multivariate statistics.

In my research, I utilise the said methods to facilitate greater understanding of the biogenic halocarbon production in marine environments. To achieve this, I focus on following aspects of the halocarbon biogeochemistry: the enzymatic processes responsible for the production in marine algae, qualitative detection of halocarbon species, and quantitative analysis of their production rates.
